Woke up this morning to some new snow coming down...always a happy sight to start the day! And figuring we weren't going to venture out for church on possibly icy roads, I put a second pot of coffee on and went back to work on the zendala dare for the week. Erin's 39th dare on the Bright Owl is a ZenDon't challenge. Throwing convention to the wind, the challenge is to ignore your typical 'rules' or favorite go-to patterns, and do your dare a little differently....Well, that just smacks me square in the face as I'm all about rules and convention and things being done a certain way...Dare I Don't? And I did...I don't ever take my art work out in public-I'm too self-concious and scared of people on just a normal given day. Bare my soul and do art in front of people?? What??? Well, I was so excited about this challenge AND this new pattern, Palrevo, just put out on TanglePatterns, I took my zendala template to Bug's bowling league yesterday morning and *gasp!* did a little public tangle! Another less daring don't is that I don't typically do monodalas but this week's template just screamed Palrevo to me, and I ran with it...
I think I messed up with the direction on the outside ring, which is where I started, but as there 'are no mistakes' in Zentangle, I ran with that also and just kept going...Wanting to go back and shade a little more...may do that later...
I also finished this week's Tangle A Day calendar page (more Palrevo!) and I'm obsessing with swirlies right now--feel something coming on with this...
This is just a slanty shot that I played with the contrast level on the photo editing program...
And more contrast, up close swirly and Palrevo...
Looking forward to the new Diva challenge this week--having a little withdrawal with her taking the past couple of weeks off (yikes!!) I miss seeing everybody's work! Plus lots more fun stuff to play with this week...yay! For now, just want to go play in the snow!
Love that new pattern and how you used it. The touch of blue really set it off.
ReplyDeletewow! i love love love your work! awesome!
ReplyDeleteLike the monotangle. And agree that the little touch of blue highlights it nicely. Don't think you should be concerned about doing it in public. Your work is great.
ReplyDeleteLove this monotangle! Really great movement and the color is great in this. Fab!
ReplyDeleteWow Dawn, your zendala looks realy great. I think Palrevo is the right tangle to use in this challenge, shading is not neccesary in this tangle, it has great depth. Your calendare page is gorgeous. Love it. I don't have a tangle a day calendar, so I thought I take my agenda I got from my Daughter as a christmas present and do the same on those pages. That works great too.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love your use of the blue - funnily you might just have given me the push to try it out as it's something that my brain's been mulling over recently........ That pattern is just splendid in your calendar - shall have to go & have a look at the instructions. Amazing how layered the pattern looks in your Zendala.

Very, very cool! The blue is just right!
ReplyDeleteYour Zendala Dare is fantastic! I love the monotangle Palrevo and how you added just a bit of color. Great job! Congrats on going public. I also feel the same way about tangling in public - I'm a bit shy and insecure about my work - lol. I have, however, begun to share my Flickr page with some friends and family. The response has been excellent which makes me wonder why I hold back - lol.
ReplyDeleteI considered that pattern and had a struggle with keeping it straight, you did it just the way I was hoping for it to look and it is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I think you did an amazing job.
ReplyDeleteWOW, what a great zendala!!! I really love it.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel about tangling in public. Since a few months I sometimes do when I'n ready at the gym, but my husband is still in the sauna. But I still only do it if there are not many people.
Great zendala! Palrevo is perfect here! I haven't tried it myself, but I will now. Congrats on tangling in public, too.
